Review: Ziip Nano Current Device; A Sleek New Device that promises to conquer breakouts and wrinkles @ziipbeauty

The last few weeks I had the chance to review one of the newest and most hi- tech beauty devices out on the market today. The Ziip Nano Current Device was developed by Melanie Simon an electrical esthetician. The device looks like a super fancy computer mouse that with the aid of the app through your iPhone/ipad offers up 6 different treatments “electrical cocktails” depending on your skin goals.

The technology behind Ziip is that it sends tiny electrical wavelengths deep below the surface of the skin and depending on the setting will deliver different results. When set on low it breaks down dirt and bacteria in the skin to help get rid of acne. My favorite treatment was the “vitaleyes”. The 2 to 4 minute treatment, I did the 4, really helps with dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines.

For sensitive skin and for 1st time users the “sensitive energize” treatment is a gentle 12 minute ant- aging treatment. For men who don’t want to spend much time on their face, the 2 minute treatment, twice a week is perfect to help reduce dark circles, fine lines and tighten pores.

The first step is to prepare the face for treatment. The Golden Conductive Gel Treatment, which feels like petroleum jelly, has to be applied liberally before you glide the Ziip device over your face and neck. Time depends on treatment selected. It is recommended to use the Ziip 1 to 3 times a week and the results are cumulative.

Restaurant Review: Il Gattopardo NYC @IlGattopardoNYC

Il Gattopardo is set in a renovated townhouse with a garden on a museum block surrounded by the cities best shops. Known for upscale Southern Italian cuisine with a true homemade feel the restaurant enjoys a loyal following of business leaders, celebs, media vip’s and museum goers.

Chef Vito Gnazzo creates dishes from Naples and surrounding areas with pastas being the specialty. The Dover Sole was flaky, tender and flavored just right. The lamb chops were favorites! The formal dining environment combined with an extremely experienced serving stuff, the old school kind that have been with the restaurant for years make for a special experience. The wine list complements the rich Sicilian menu to a tee.

ROKI Le Izakaya: Modern new Japanese Brasserie In The Flatiron District NYC #RokiLeIzakaya

Last weekend we were invited to dinner at the brand new hotspot in the Flatiron District Roki Le Izakaya. A modern take on a traditional Japanese restaurant that fuses typical fare like sushi and sashimi with a Ramen menu and tapas dishes meant to be shared. Using the freshest ingredients the dishes are created with a healthy flair.

Owned and operated by Keiko Ono Aoki and Executive Chef Koji Hagihara. Keiko is the wife of the late Rocky Aoki, owner and founder of the world famous Benihana chain.

The decor is modern and sleek, yet casual with murals and a communal table along with traditional banquettes and a seating area by the bar if you choose to watch the chef at work.

Our tasting menu consisted of Kanpachi Carpacchio, our favorite! Amberjack fish with onion, radish sprouts, wasabi, garlic and ponzu sauce. We then moved on to the Japanese canapés. The menu offers 9 options so we choose the Kani (snow crab & avocado), Amaebi (sweet shrimp) & the Ahi Poke (Tuna). They are served over crispy sushi rice which adds great texture to the dish. The Spicy shrimp tempura roll was crunchy and delicious served with spicy mayo.

Now it was time to try some hot appetizers. We went for the ROKI Shrimp steamed Gyoza. Tender shrimp, pork belly, water chestnut and bamboo wrapped in a gyoza wrapper. My companions favorite dish was the Wagyu shortribs. The meat was cooked just right served with seasonal vegetables.

Ramen

Ramen is one of the most popular dishes at the brasserie. The ROKI ROKI Ramen Nabe is a hotpot for 2, although it’s enormous and can be shared amongst a larger party. The choices are seafood, original dan dan ramen, the most popular, and the beef & vegetable ramen. Individual ramen choices are the classic chashu shoyu( sliced pork belly, veggies in a soy sauce broth), chashu tonkutso premium ramen(chicken & pork broth, pork belly, sliced pork & veggies), and organic vegetable ramen(soy milk broth, miso, seasonal vegetables, kale noodles & seaweed).

For dessert we highly recommend the Earl Grey Creme Brûlée. Perfectly fluffy with a hint of Earl Grey and not too sweet.

As of last week ROKI is still working on a liquor license so guests are welcomed and encouraged to BYOB.

Hibba Kapil of Hibba Beauty and her team of experienced Browologists and waxing technicians have been busy shaping women’s eyebrows and providing organic whole body hair removal services in New York City since 2010. Now with 3 locations, with the latest being a cozy cheerful salon in the heart of Columbus Circle.

For eyebrows or any hair removal on the face, Hibba does not believing in waxing. The areas are too sensitive and waxing can be harsh and not as precise as the threading method. The focus is on the arch and recreating the arch is Hibba’s main focus. When done correctly eyebrows are the centerpoint of the face and accentuate features and bone structure.

Initially I was little bit nervous about threading because I always plucked and waxed my eyebrows. However, with a few mishaps in the last year and the last few months I have been letting them grow out and even out, I was ready to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick it was and less painful than waxing. She was able to grab hard to reach hairs that waxing could not. I highly recommend it!

Brow Reformation or Microblading is a huge trend right now and is a specialty of Hibba’s. Although I did not have it done yet many colleagues have praised her work. It’s basically taking thin sparse brows and reforming them into fuller brows with a semi-permanent tattoo. The process takes about 2 hours including an extensive consultation and costs between $400-650 dollars. Considering how thick eyebrows are all the rage now, this is a valuable investment, plus you save on not having to purchase all those eyebrow pencils!

For the body Hibba uses Azulene wax which is infused with chamomile and honey, which have soothing properties, to relieve the pain and her well trained staff provide a quick and surprisingly pretty painless experience.

Sugaring is also offered for hair removal on the body. This very gentle natural method uses a paste made from sugar, lemon, and water. This method has been around for thousands of years and Hibba’s salon is one of the few in the city to offer a truly authentic shugaring experience.

A Culinary Treat With Nestle Damak @NestleDamak @Tasting Table

Last week we were treated to a unique foodie experience with Nestle Damak. Who knew pistachios can be used in such a variety of dishes and cocktails? Nestle Damak has been a premium chocolate brand hailing from Turkey since 1933. Damak incorporates pistachios into their chocolate bars available in Fine and Dark Chocolate. Pistachios were used in our dinner preparation of Roast Leg of Lamb, Bean Salad, Flatbreads and a variety of dips as well along with the cocktails.

The pizzas are delicious with nearly 20 varieties including 2 options of “Chocolate Pizza”, the Giacomo and the Henriette. Owner Mino Habib is also the owner of trendy establishments The DL, Veranda, and The Attic Rooftop. Replacing St. Jerome’s, a dive bar that was a favorite haunt for Lady Gaga. The decor is sleek with plush velvet banquettes and a back room with a DJ available for private parties. Mexico is a vacationer’s dream. With so many destinations featuring gorgeous beaches, cultural experiences and an immense variety of hotel/resort choices in every price range, a trip to Mexico truly offers something for everyone.

Based in New York City our team has visited Cancun and the Riviera Maya on several occasions with a short 3.5 hour flight, making a long weekend an easy reality. This time we decided to venture to Puerto Vallarta, on the western coast of Mexico to experience what it has to offer.

Puerto Vallarta has been a go to for west coasters for decades as well as midwesterners and Canadians due to convenient direct flights and charters. From NYC there are many convenient connections to Puerto Vallarta VIA Mexico City on Aeromexico, more details on that below.

When choosing a resort to discover in Puerto Vallarta, we wanted to experience a family all- inclusive traveling with a 10 year old, but also wanted to pamper ourselves, relax, and experience the authenticity and charm of Puerto Vallarta. The Buenaventura Grand & Great Moments is centrally located about 15 minutes from the airport and a short stroll from the famous seaside boardwalk know as “The Malecon” featuring many cafes, shops, outdoor clubs and entertainment.

A beachfront property on The Bay of Banderas, the resort offers three pool areas including an adults only area along a beach bar where friendly bartenders mix refreshing cocktails with daily specials and remember guests drink choices by the second day.

The resort is going through a gradual renovation that began in 2016 with all the rooms eventually being transformed to include flat screen tv’s and visually pleasing decor and modern luxuries. The main restaurant Frutas Y Flores and the specialty restaurant Sunset were also renovated late last year along with the resort’s kitchen. Both restaurants feature regional specialties along with an international menu and offer a variety of vegetarian and gluten free options.

The resort offers daily activities, a kids club and nightly entertainment including a weekly themed “Mexican Night” featuring local cuisine and an authentic Mexican Show.

The parent company also owns The Villa Premiere right next door, an adults-only, all suites, premiere all-inclusive, boutique resort that is perfect for a romantic getaway or honeymoon.

Things To Do In Puerto Vallarta:

The hotel concierge can arrange many types of adventures throughout Puerto Vallarta. Here are our favorites:

Dolphin Discovery offers several swimming with the dolphins packages that allow an unforgettable experience for the entire family. These smart and adorable mammals love to interact with guests while trainers teach participants about them. Located in Aquaventuras Park, featuring 10 waterslides, a lazy river, zipline, and a climbing wall challenge. An area dedicated to little ones is also available. Open daily 10 to 5. The park offers a variety of packages, some that include food & beverages.

Vallarta Adventures excursion to YELAPA & MAJAHUITAS. The full day excursion begins with a breakfast onboard a catamaran that departs from marina vallarta. Sailing south along the Puerto Vallarta coast to the peaceful cove of Majahuitas, the catamaran stops in this isolated cove for 1.5 hours of snorkeling and kayaking. A tasty lunch follows as well as an open bar. The afternoon is spent in Yelapa where guests can choose to be beachside on lounge chairs or climb the Yelapa waterfall before hitting the beach. On the way back the bar is once again open and there is rock show on board. As a bonus we saw Whales, not guaranteed!

Aeromexico offers daily service to Puerto Vallarta from several cities via Mexico City. The airline recently introduced daily service from JFK to Mexico City aboard The 787 Dreamliner. Coach celebrates 75th Anniversary with Fashion Show & Party @Coach #Coach1941

To celebrate 75 years in the business and their reinvention Coach put on a Pre-Fall 17 fashion show and a massive after party complete with disco balls, 70’s automobiles, and a retro vibe where guests like Drew Barrymore, Zoe Kravitz, Emma Roberts, and Michael B. Jordan among others partied in a motel (hotel) lobby while listening to Mark Ronson at the DJ Booth.
