In the 1960’s and 1970’s The Mount Airy Lodge was the epitome of cool with a huge year round resort known to be “The honeymoon getaway” with first class entertainment with the likes of Bob Hope and Milton Berle and many more.

Like every destination it is difficult to keep that hype alive so when the 1980’s saw an economic downturn and East Coasters discovered other weekend destinations such as The Hamptons and weekend getaways to Las Vegas and beyond ,Mount Airy lost its stride and officially closed in 2001. in 2004 developer Louis DeNaples realized the huge potential  of this huge and beautiful piece of land so his company tore down the aging property and rebuilt The Mount Airy Casino in 2007.

Throughout the last few years and a total redesign of the rooms, outdoor spaces, and the opening of the indoor/outdoor pool and entertainment center called “Get Wet” a new era was born in the Poconos that brings in a younger and trendier demographic to the region without losing it’s appeal to the customer base that made Mount Airy what is is today.

Mount Airy Casino is the only property in Pennsylvania awarded the prestigious AAA Four Diamond rating. The casino boasts 1800 slot machines and over 80 tables all with a backdrop of The Pocono mountains where skiers as well summer goers  can find entertainment options. The rooms are designed with comfort and style in mind with luxury bathroom amenities, robes, and  24 hour room service.

Mount Airy Casino expanded their dining options with the opening of Guy Fieri’s Mt.Pocono kitchen that offers casual but perfectly cooked BBQ dishes and comfort food and was packed the whole weekend we were there. For a more refined dining experience or if you  had a particularly good night at the Tables, Bistecca by Il Mulino offers a variety of prime surf and turf options with outstanding personalized service. Our favorite however, was Lucky 8’s where the sushi was very fresh and the chef created a role specialties that were on point, even for seasoned NYC sushi aficionados in my party. Lucky 8’s also serves a modern chinese menu as well.  

The Casino Resort boasts an impressive 16,000 full service spa with a full array of face and body treatments as well as hair and nail services and a modern gym. For golfers there is a lakefront 18 hole golf course which is open seasonally. Our favorite daytime activity was spending time in the heated family friendly  indoor/outdoor pool area called “Get Wet” with full bar and food service and in the summer the pool deck opens up for sun seekers.

Mount Airy has always been know for attracting headliners and celebrities to perform and this tradition continues at The Mount Airy Casino with a full schedule of entertainment coming in 2016. Comedians, Singers, and even a few Reality show stars are scheduled to entertain the guests.
