HTC – Double Exposure Launch – NYC – October 8, 2014
Taiwan-based HTC yesterday unveiled its newest smartphone with high-resolution cameras on both sides to appeal to people who take “selfie” pictures. The HTC Desire Eye, unveiled at a New York event, includes 13-megapixel cameras on both the front and back. “Desire Eye is fully equipped for those who love to take great photos, videos and selfies,” an HTC statement said. The new phone will be sold in the United States through AT&T. HTC also launched an uniquely shaped camera called Re, which departs from the box shape, designed instead with a round periscope-like appearance, which can fit in one’s hand and can be used with only one hand. A Re app is available on Google play store and Apple ITunes as well. HTC said the camera’s design featured a sensor which automatically activated the device whenever it was picked up, eliminating the need for a power button. HTC said it plans to introduce live streaming with the camera through Google-owned YouTube in the near future. |
Beautypress – Spotlight Day – September 24, 2014 @beautypress #beautypress #Spotlightday
Last week Beautypress held it’s Spotlight day at the midtown loft. This meeting between editors, beauty brands, retailers and TV producers maximizes exposure for emerging brands and introduces new product launches for the established ones all under one roof while enjoying cocktails and snacks as well. Our top 5 brands from this event were: Cleanse by Lauren Napier. This makeup artist by trade launched this sleek packaged set of makeup remover wipes that are contained in individual pouches and open up as plush cotton great smelling cleansing cloths that actually work to remove makeup and other impurities from the skins surface. Kiss Products are one of the largest distributors of nail products in the world. They have hundreds of color combos to choose from and are easy to use and apply and are inexpensive enough that you can change your nail colors often or even for a fun night out. AcnEase is an all natural botanical acne treatment that treats acne from the inside out. The dosages are determined by the severity of the condition and since there are no harsh chemicals there are no side effects. It is good for all ages and every skin type and the brand has a 96 percent success rate. True Natural and Lavera are sister companies with Lavera being the German counterpart that has been a pioneer in natural beauty since 1987. The 2 lines contain over 300 products and are truly comprehensive. The self tanners for face and body were some of my favorite products because they gave a very natural glow, not orangey, and the smell was very mild almost nonexistent. Happy Hands is the original U Nail Glove. Considering the popularity of gel manicures and the obvious effects of UV rays on hands from prolonged use I would say this product is a necessity to prevent skin damage and premature aging as hands are very sensitive to UV rays. |
Love Cafe & Bar – NYC
In the midst of Fashion week recently I was looking for a place to relax, have some home cooked food, and since I’m Russian The Love Cafe & Bar turned out to be the perfect place. There are many Russian restaurants in the city and Brooklyn if you choose to venture out of Manhattan, but many of them are Americanized or are fusion and don’t have that authentic flavor I was looking for. Owner Margherita, overseas the kitchen herself and prides on using the freshest top quality ingredients and uses many family recipes that have been in her family for decades. A native of Odessa, and a Florida transplant, having owned a successful Crepe shop in St. Augustine, named Sarah’s after her grandmother is an expert in Russian comfort food. Our favorites were the Borscht Soup ( Homemade vegetable soup with beets served with sour creme) $3.95, Vinaigrette Russian Beet Salad $8.95, Olivier Salad, a true russian classic ( carrots, pickle, dill, Hard boiled egg, potato, peas in mayo dressing) $8.95, so delicious I took some home! The Perogies ( $8.50) were delicious as well. Some of the house specials include the Chicken liver pate platter, the stuffed cabbage , the Hungarian Goulash, and the Beef Stroganoff. For Dessert Margherita made us the La’ Belle crepe. This chocolate crepe is served with either chocolate or vanilla sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream topped with a special sauce. FYI, it’s huge so ask for spoons to share. There is a large dessert menu to choose from as well. While dining at Love Cafe I did spot several Russian models in a corner nibbling on Margherita’s food, as they were probably looking for a tasty ,comfortable break from fashion week as well.
