Last week The Diamond Empowerment Fund’s (D.E.F.) Good Awards, established in 2012 to recognize individuals, organizations, and corporations, in the diamond and jewelry industry for outstanding leadership and promoting opportunity for others, were held at the Empire Penthouse in New York City.
The cocktail party honored Jane Seymour for her work with the Open Hearts Foundation, which was created to help children in the areas of education, sports and the arts. Kay Jewelers who is partnered with the foundation and Jane Seymour who has designed the Open Heart Pendant discussed her mission and goals for the foundation.

David Rocha, the executive director of Jewelers for Children was honored with the Good Award for his work in raising money for children’s charities.

The D.E.F. was started in 2007 by Russell Simmons and many executives in the diamond and jewelry industry to empower diamond communities worldwide through education.

The organization sponsors schools around the globe including the ALA, The African Leadership Academy, located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The three students of the Academy in attendance included Fortune Zindi from Zimbabwe, Ngozi Cole of Sierra Leone, and Emmanuel Ewald Mushy from Tanzania. All three students discussed how attending the school changed their lives and have given them opportunities that would otherwise not be possible. They are all attending college in the US now and looking forward to successful careers, and are thinking about someday going back and using that knowledge to help create change in their home countries.

Nancy Orem Lyman, The VP and the executive director of D.E.F. announced that website has been launched called http://www.diamondsdogood.com and that the signature green bracelet will once again be available for sale to support fundraising for the organization.

The 17th Annual Samuel Waxman Collaborating For A Cure Gala took place at Cipriani last week and it raised $2.5 million dollars to support cancer research.

The gala was hosted by Elin and Michael Nierenberg and honored fashion designers Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs. There was a very special musical performance by Ziggy Marley who brought the crowd to it’s feet playing his hits as well as his legendary dad’s Bob Marley as well.

In attendance were Dr. Samuel Waxman, Michael and Elin Nierenberg, MC Chris Wragge, Carly Cushnie, Michelle Ochs, Ruth Finley, Mary Kantor, Robert Kantor, and of course Ziggy Marley as well as over 750 corporate executives, board members, and their guests.

The live auction hosted by Sotheby’s Executive Vice President Hugh Hildesley included adorable lab puppies with winning bids of $9000 and $8000. A five night yacht cruise in the Bahamas, A meeting with Ziggy Marley and a signed guitar and much much more!

     Indochine owner Jean- Marc Houmard threw a huge and wild 30th Anniversary party for the legendary restaurant that has seen it all. From countless celebrities to many fashion week after parties, many of which I attended, this restaurant never fails to deliver on its fantastic vibe and cuisine that has not diminished over time, as it can and has happened to many restaurants that have lasted this long. Indochine is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC of all time!

     Last week Eddie Bauer opened a brand new Pop up show in NYC, the first time since 2007 that the company has had a presence in Manhattan. The outdoor, active wear enthusiasts market is thriving and Eddie Bauer is part of the trend. The line this season is younger, triendier, but still has that quality and construction we expect from the brand.

This past weekend, the second to last weekend of the unofficial summer season, out east in Bridgehampton Jaguar hosted a party at the lux and chic Topping Rose House. This past weekend, IvyConnect, the world’s fastest growing social incubator that brings together inspiring entrepreneurs, artists, and innovative professionals hosted its 2nd Hamptons Weekend in Sag Harbor, New York that was presented by Cadillac.      Last night Women’s Health Magazine Publisher Laura Frerer-Schmidt, Michelle Promaulayko (Editor in Chief) and FEED Chairman Lauren Bush held their Annual “Party under the Stars” at the beautiful and modern Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club.

     Guests included Rosario Dawson, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, Ginger Zee, Star Jones, Tameron Hall, Katie Lee, Ari Parker and Taryn Manning who also served as the guest DJ.

     This event was a pre- party for the 3rd annual Run10 Feed 10 10k race that will take place in NYC on September 21, 2014 and will then take place in 10 additional cities nationwide. These races will raise money to help fight domestic hunger. Chief Meteorologist ,Ginger Zee will host the NYC race and run in it as well.

Gianni Russo of Godfather fame helped MC and with the live auction. Maria and Kenneth Fishel graciously offered their beautiful Bridgehampton home as a backdrop to a great evening that raised money to eradicate cancer.

The services included hair by John Frieda, makeup by the Boots skincare/makeup team, mini facials by Thuyen Nguyen, and eyebrow touchups.    Love Heals held it’s annual party to benefit the Alison Gertz Foundation. This time it was held at the gorgeous Wolffer Estate in Sagaponack. The theme was #Letsmisbehave with guests encouraged to rock 80’s attire. Former American Idol and now Rock of Ages star Constantine Maroulis rocked the house playing 80’s tunes that seemed to get everyone out on the dancefloor.    Stadium Red hosted the World Cup Finals between Germany and Argentina in style with a poolside party at their Hamptons estate. Bounce Sports Club @Bounce21NYC took over the party with a BBQ, Flatscreen TV’s by every lounge and Bounce girls to entertain the guests. The one and only Busta Rhymes gave an impromtu performance of his greatest hits once Germany scored a goal and won The World Cup. @StadiumRed
