Oscar Wilde, The Bar has opened in NYC @OscarWildeNYC #OscarWildeNYC

Fans of Oscar Wilde rejoice, as a bar with his namesake and two bronze status of him has opened in NYC. The Nomad area bar pays homage to the Irish novelist and playwright with opulent decor, imported murano glass, mirrors, and loads of unique antiques.

An interesting piece of history is that, ironically the building housing the bar was once home to the city’s Prohibition Enforcement Headquarters during the 1920’s. The cocktail menu reflects both the Victorian and Prohibition era with one cocktail aptly named “Oscar Wilde’s Potent Elixir”. It is made with cognac, guinness, gin, cassis, lavender, champagne, and orange zest. And yes it is quite potent!

On the menu at Oscar Wilde is classic bar fare with a twist. Our favorites included the buffalo cauliflower, The chicken wings with a curry dry rub, The kale caesar salad, the oscar wilde burger, and the dessert trio.

The bar is quite popular with an after work crowd and tourists alike. Loud music, lots of drinking, good food, so fun is sure to be had with a visit to Oscar Wilde.
