![]() Located just 90 miles from NYC in the Poconos this resort and spa is the perfect weekend getaway. More than 150 wooded acres surround this property including a private lake that is used for kayaking and fly fishing excursions. The 56 rooms on property all include oversize bathrooms and private balconies. Each room has plush bathrobes and slippers for guests to use when exploring the property by day or using the spa. Dress for dinner at the Tree restaurant is a far more elegant experience.
The resort and spa focuses on activities aimed at physical fitness as well as mental well being. There are a vast amount of activities daily to choose from ranging from hatha yoga, inner smile meditation to art classes galore. FYI, you can scan a barcode with your smartphone at check-in so you always have your schedule handy. The outdoor area is gorgeous with a huge jacuzzi and lounge chairs and bar service available. It is connected to a huge indoor pool, this is where all aquatic classes take place as well as another jacuzzi with a hydrotherapy waterfall. The 40, 000 square foot spa is a destination all in itself. There are 27 treatment rooms, a relaxation room, indoor jacuzzi, steam, sauna, male and female changing rooms. The treatment options are endless. I chose the Tension Tamer. At 50 minutes this massage was just the right amount to release stress and tension. My guest chose the Deep Tissue Massage. At 100 minutes long this intense massage helped relieve discomfort caused by overuse and muscle strain. The most popular massage at the spa is the Chakra massage. This 100 minute massage blends a traditional swedish massage with aromatherapy and energy work. The spa has a wide range of facial services available as well. No weekend getaway is complete without a great dining experience. The all inclusive resort includes 3 meals a day with a fresh farm to table garden. The meals are carefully created by the chef to be delicious as well as good for you and are presented in a sophisticated way. Some examples of the dishes we sampled that were favorites were Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, Black Miso Cod, and Lump Crab Cakes. The Tree restaurant has a full bar as well, but not included in the package. This resort is serene and peaceful by choice. However, if guests are seeking something to do at night after dinner, the sister property Woodloch Pines Resort offers every type of entertainment possible. The lodge offers shuttle service back and forth for guests. This huge family resort offers magic shows, karaoke, and even an 80’s Musical song and dance show a couple times a week.
