Restaurant Review: Hummus 21 @hummus_21 #NYC

Hummus21_exterior_1-1745x1163 Hummus 21 is a welcome new addition to the upper east side. This Glatt Kosher Mediterranean Restaurant adheres to kosher traditions while bringing customers upscale mediterranean cuisine with a twist. The cocktail list features several classic drinks like the Margarita, Whiskey Sour and The Pina Colada, made with a cream substitute that complies with Glatt Kosher, but is cream like and very tasty. The wine list is quite varied especially if you prefer red wine. Hummus_21_-60_ZVe4Y6hSneLUQbjDiDTq-1725x1150 We started are our meal with what Hummus 21 has become known for and that is homemade hummus expertly prepared with paprika, extra virgin olive oil and fresh parsley served with a side of pita bread for dipping. Hummus is also offered as an entree and there are 6 toppings to choose from including Shawarma chopped chicken, lightly spiced roasted chicken, and jalapeno peppers just to name a few. We also ordered the falafel which was tasty made with fresh vegetables, herbs and chickpeas. The mediterranean salad is a good choice if you are craving a lighter/healthier option made with fresh tomato, cucumber, onion, parsley, mint, lemon in a vinaigrette dressing. The Whole Branzino Fish is a customer favorite stuffed with baby spinach, herbs and fresh lemon.Hummus_21_-43-1815x1210 We finished our meal with a sampling of desserts including the amazing chocolate souffle and my favorite the classic Kadaif, shredded filo dough topped with vanilla cream cake and garnished with tahini and silan. There are many teas to choose from including Moroccan Tea and Turkish Coffee. Hummus_21_-38-1529x1019 Hummus 21 is open 7 days a week for dinner and is now open for brunch on weekends as well. 1055 First Avenue Between East 57th and 58th St. New York, NY 10022 (212) 371- 2161 http://www.hummus21.com
