Whynot Bistro: A Taste of France in The West Village @WhynotbistroNYC

Whynot Bistro and Jazz Bar, located at the intersection of Christopher and Gay Streets in the west village is an authentic french bistro in New York City. Upstairs there is a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and downstairs is a candlelit jazz bar called The Den that that holds almost nightly jazz sessions.

The food is freshly prepared and presented in an aesthetically pleasing way and can be paired with a variety of French wines or beer. The Ahi Tuna Tartare, Salade Nicoise and the Chicken liver mousse are staples there and are must haves! Diners seated next to us raved about the French onion soup and the Escargot.

For the main course I had the lamb chops and they were cooked just right and my dining partner had the filet mignon that was very tender and flavored to perfection.

You can’t leave a french bistro without dessert so we shared the creme brulee and the chocolate souffle which were delicious and a great way to finish off a meal.
